Im 12 am i to young to wear contacts?

no I don%26#039;t think so.

I have a friend who%26#039;s 12 (turning 13 though) an she wears contacts.
Im 12 am i to young to wear contacts?
No my cousin just got them and she is my age 11. My friend got them in 3rd grade. I%26#039;m getting them soon too.

Im 12 am i to young to wear contacts?
no i got mine when i was 11 (bout to b 12)
Reply:Nope, I%26#039;m almost 13 and I wear them.
Reply:no... its rlly easy to do.
Reply:Not necessarily.. the real question is are you mature enough to take care of your contacts. It takes a lot of responsibility when wearing contacts. You have to wash them and put them away daily. I used to wear contacts myself but i found that it was too much of a hassle to clean and take them out everyday. But if you feel you can take on that responsibility then I don%26#039;t see why you shouldn%26#039;t be able to wear them. As long as your committed, I say go for it. Wear those contacts :D.
Reply:Contacts in general are bad for you because they dont let enough oxygen get to your eyes.

When you%26#039;re 12 your eyes havent fully developped yet and they need a lot of oxygen.

i would wait till your eyes have fully developped before using contacts

It%26#039;s also easy to get an eye infection especially if you were going to wear them on a daily basis

If you decided to get contacts be extra cautious and wear them like when you need it for sports or something etc.

I know what i%26#039;m talking about because when i was 13 i wanted to get contacts by my eye doctor told me to wait There are specific kinds that allow oxygen to get to your eyes better, i would get those if you decide to get %26#039;em
Reply:Yes, you are too young. Your eyes are still growing, and that includes your corneas. You are also young, which means you are less likely to take the cleaning and maintenance of your contacts seriously. If you don%26#039;t get this right, it is not like losing a video game, where if you forget to do something correctly you press reset and start over. You can lose your sight through your immaturity.
Reply:It depends on how responsible you are. (I know a lot of people in their 20%26#039;s who shouldn%26#039;t be wearing them because they don%26#039;t take care of them properly!)

My ophthalmologist absolutely would not let me have them until I was 13. You have to be very diligent with cleaning and proper care of them, as it can have a significant effect on the health of your eyes. That%26#039;s why a lot of doctors make you wait til you%26#039;re a teenager.

If you feel you can deal with this responsibility, then, yes, you are old enough! Or maybe you can try the disposable ones you throw away at the end of each day to see how you like them.

Explain to your parents and your doctor that you think you are mature enough to handle this new responsibility. Also, you can provide supporting information as to WHY you think contacts would make your life better. If they are leery about it, they can get you a trial pair and see how you do.
Reply:NO, your not too young. Unless you mom said you were, if she did you should listen to her.
Reply:nope. you can%26#039;t really be to young for them, its the matter of responsibility. the reason most kids can%26#039;t get them is becaue they aren%26#039;t able to consistently put them in and take care of them.

but don%26#039;t worry, i got them at the end of sixth grade and i have a friend whos had them since 4th. (shes basically blind)
